Andrea Blair
I bring warmth, honesty and creativity to my therapeutic work and believe that the most healing part of therapy is the relationship created with you during this process.
I offer the space to share difficult feelings in a safe and supportive atmosphere without judgement.
As an integrative therapist I draw on a range of psychological and creative approaches to be able to tailor the therapy to your needs which may change and develop as the therapy progresses.
I have a Masters degree in Integrative Arts Psychotherapy from the Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education and a B.Ed. (Hons) degree.
I continue to develop my practice through regular supervision and professional training. I hold a Diploma in Creative Approaches to Supervision from the London Centre for Psychodrama and a Certificate in CBT Skills.
I have a particular professional interest in autism, holding a Certified Autism Clinical Specialist Certificate. I currently deliver training on autism and wellbeing for a leading children's mental health charity.
I also have a Diploma in Counselling Children & Adolescents and hold the UKCP Child & Adolescent Proficiency Marker for working with children and young people. I am a certified Youth Mental Health First Aider and approved Instructor. I am DBS checked and receive regular safeguarding training.
I have worked as a psychotherapist for Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust (The Woman's Service and The Bracton Centre) and in a SE London based charity providing individual psychotherapy.
Before training to be a psychotherapist I worked in the education sector for over 25 years as a teacher, Dyslexia tutor and Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator working with students with pastoral and additional educational needs (Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia and Dyspraxia).
I currently work in S.E. London as a psychotherapist and supervisor in private practice and as a Senior SEN Advisory Teacher for Social, Emotional & Mental Health (advising school staff, working across agencies, facilitating forums, co-ordinating a Mental Health Leads network and providing SEMH and Youth Mental Health First Aid Certificate Training).
I am also an artist, illustrator and printmaker and enjoy spending time in my studio working on my own creations.
I am registered as an Art Psychotherapist with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) and am a member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT).
I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and belong to their Register which is approved by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care.
I abide by their code of ethics.
